]]> Hiking to Tibidabo

Tibidabo is the highest peak of the mountain range that surrounds Barcelona. It is also known as the Magic Mountain and with its 512 meters height, it is one of the best viewpoints to contemplate the city.

There you can also find the Expiatory Temple of the Sacred Heart, a curious big church that is visible at night from anywhere in the city.

To get there you can either take a bus, car or… walk! Like we did! The clouds couldn’t prevent us from our fun Saturday hike to the top!

]]> On Saturday morning we meet up with Linguaschools Barcelona students at Plaza Catalunya. From there we already have a great view at Tibidabo. Tibidabo is a hill overlooking the city. At 512 metres, it is the tallest hill in the Serra de Collserola. Rising sharply to the north-west, it has views over the city and the surrounding coastline. The summit of the hill is occupied by the Sagrat Cor church and adjacent Tibidabo Amusement Park.

After a 15 minute train ride we arrive in Baixador de Vallvidrera. From there we hike up to the top of the mountain. We talk, enjoy the views and enjoy the exercise. From the top of the mountain we have a great view and can even see Montserrat! It was a beautiful morning.

]]> We met in the school garden after class and walked to the train station at Plaza Catalunya. From there it is only a 15 minutes train ride to Baixador de Vallvidrera. When we get off and the train takes off again you only hear birds singing, the wind through the branches and the cracking leaves under our feet. Then we know, yes we are in nature! It’s super cool that in such short time we travel from the bustling Barcelona city centre to quiet and peace.

It takes us about 1,5 hours to get to the top of Tibidabo with its church. With a clear blue sky and 360 degrees view this hike is so worth it.

After a long week of learning Spanish it is such a good idea to escape the city and walk through the forest up to Tibidabo. We went on an excursion last Saturday. First we took a 15 minute train ride from plaza Catalunya to Baixador de Vallvidrera and then we started our 1,5 hour hike to the top of the mountain. After a refreshing drink on the terrace we walked up the stairs to enjoy the amazing views over Barcelona.
